WASHINGTON TOURISM ALLIANCE PRESIDENT TAMMY BLOUNT ANNOUNCES DEPARTURE
SEATTLE – Washington Tourism Alliance (WTA) President Tammy Blount has resigned from her position as President + CEO at the Tacoma Regional Convention & Visitors Bureau and as President of the WTA to take a position with the Monterey County Convention & Visitors Bureau.
“While this is an exciting opportunity for Tammy, we will miss her leadership and devotion to our organization,” said Suzanne Fletcher, WTA Executive Director.
“A consummate professional, Tammy has always had the best interests of the tourism industry foremost in her role,” said Kevin Clark, acting President of WTA and CEO & President of Argosy Cruises. “She was one of the catalysts for the creation of the WTA and without her devotion, her countless volunteer hours, we would not be in the strong position we are today.”
As testament to her standing in the industry, Tammy was unanimously elected by the WTA Board at their first meeting to serve as the first President of the organization. “Monterey has obviously noted her exceptional qualities, and I am sure they will be well-served with her as their new leader,” said Fletcher.
With this announcement comes an open position on the WTA Board for a Destination Marketing Organization representative. WTA is in the process of accepting nominations for an open at-large position, and is including this new opening in that process.
Following Tammy’s resignation, Kevin Clark, Vice President, will serve as WTA President until the WTA Board names a replacement. This discussion/action item will be on the January 12 WTA Board meeting agenda.
