Executive Director Update

March 12, 2012

March is a special month for the WTA, as it marks the WTA’s first birthday! Last year around this time, the first Summit was held as a call to action, and some were unsure there would be a second. Not only are we here, but we are getting stronger every day! And to celebrate our successful first year, we are going to hold the 2nd Annual WTA Summit on April 5. This event is so very important to the WTA, as it is our celebration of success, our report out of accomplishments, and our road map for the future. Anyone in the tourism industry should want to be a part of this special occasion. We are very excited to have secured Roger Dow, an industry leader and President & CEO, USTA and Caroline Beteta, President & CEO, Visit California as keynote speakers. They will be sharing their view points on tourism from the national level, and how their efforts work in conjunction with the WTA. (more…)

Executive Director Update – 2.10.12

Executive Director Update

February 10, 2012

I always want to start out by saying “it’s been a busy few weeks,” but they are all busy and productive weeks at the WTA! There is so much progression in committees, increased press, and public speaking opportunities. The list just goes on and on… But I would be remiss if I didn’t start out every newsletter with one comment… THE VOLUNTEERS… AMAZING DEDICATION AND AMAZING PEOPLE! We can’t thank you enough.

I need to begin by introducing the new face in town! We are very excited to announce that Brianna Mark is joining our team and will be a very familiar voice and face to the WTA. Brianna comes to us with years of DMO and meeting and events experience. She hasn’t had much down time since she started, but I do hope you take a minute and say hello and introduce yourself through email or in person, she can be contacted at bmark@watourismalliance.com . Pow Wow Deadline Extended

by WaTourismAlliance

Reminder!

Interested in attending the U.S. Travel Association’s Pow-Wow? WTA is seeking major state attractions and destinations/regions to partner in a cooperative booth at this international trade show occurring April 21-25, 2012 in Los Angeles.

Pow Wow is the travel industry’s premier international marketplace and the largest generator of Visit USA travel – it is NOT a typical trade show. In just three days of intensive pre-scheduled business appointments, more than 1,000 U.S. travel organizations from every region of the USA, and close to 1,200 International and Domestic Buyers from more than 70 countries, conduct business negotiations that result in the generation of over $3.5 billion in future travel to the USA. At Pow Wow, buyers and sellers are able to conduct business that would otherwise be generated only through an exhaustive number of around-the-world trips. Click here for more information.

The cost to co-op share in the booth is approximately $3,800, which includes registration, the right to participate in the appointments, plus meals and events associated with the convention. Lodging, air and ground transportation and incidentals are the responsibility of the individual participants.

There is space for three more partners. For information and to commit, please contact me by end of day – December 16 – either by phone (206.660.6520) or email at Suzanne@WATourismAlliance.com.

Co-Op Marketing Opportunity

by WaTourismAlliance

Greetings,

The Washington Tourism Alliance (WTA) is excited to announce the development of a co-op marketing campaign for the first quarter of 2012 to kick off the travel planning season. As a member of WTA, we are offering you an exclusive opportunity to partner and leverage your funds with WTA and other Washington State tourism related organizations.

During the first quarter of 2012 we will be running online advertisements on prominent news sites and blogs in two key markets: Vancouver B.C. and Portend, OR.

The objective of the co-op campaign is to drive consumers to the Washington State Facebook page and www.experiencewa.com  website to learn more about packages and deals provided by DMO’s and their partners. WTA will also be collecting email addresses for future e-marketing efforts.

WTA is providing the funding to create and implement the marketing co-op opportunity and relying on investment and participation from you to extend the reach, frequency and length of the program.

We have developed three levels of participation in the co-op marketing campaign.

The Three Levels of Participation are:
